  Reading time 3 minutes

As part of my research and learning journey about unschooling, I’ve come across some wonderful websites that have been helpful, informative and inspirational to me. In this blog post I’ll give you a rundown of my favourite Australian unschooling blogs and websites to follow.

Happiness is here – Australian Mama of 4 sharing their unschooling life

This Australian family of 6 are enjoying an unschooling life and sharing about it on their Unschooling Facebook page and Happiness is here blog. An active blog with at least 1 post a month and their most recent post ‘6 Qualities You Really Need to Be a Homeschool Parent’ which I think summarises very well what qualities can be expected of an unschooling parent.

Stories of an unschooling family – all grown up children now but still an active blog

This was one of the first unschooling websites I came across in our unschooling journey and what caught my eye was that their photos had consistency. It feels all their photos are their own (compared to stock photos) which gives the blog a wonderful personalised feel. I also love the about page and there is A LOT of content here to be explored.

Seven Little Australians & Counting – Australian Catholic family of fourteen

Wow! Mom of 12 blogging about her home schooling life, rural living and sharing their experiences of owner builder. Also active on instagram and even hosting workshops! Very diverse blog with lots of information, helpful resources and a lot of references on books!

The Homeschool Life by Lusi

Lusi is the founder of The Homeschool Life and has been homeschooling 5 kids for the last 14 years. She has been a presenter at the Australian Homeschool Summit in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Has a huge amount of free resources and also offers great blog posts, freebies, retreats and courses.

Belinda Moore – Homeschool Confidently

Belinda Moore is a mother of seven who lives in tropical far north Queensland. She is interested in growing food plants and flowers, keeping cows and chickens, business, travel, community resilience projects – especially complimentary currency, sustainability, creativity, collaboration, and education. Offers homeschool coaching on Homeschool Confidently, is a summit speaker and active blogger.

The Wrap Up

Having done a bit of research on the variety of Unschooling and Homeschooling websites and blogs in Australia, I think it all boils down to how much content you consume, how often and what you do with the content. In my recent post “3 Things I’m Doing Right Now To Be A Better Person and Mum” I wrote about my newly adopted habits to make sure I don’t consume useless content and endlessly scroll on social media. These include Unsubscribing from useless email newsletters, Deleting all time consuming useless apps and Install Smart Education Apps instead.
